Independence Day was celebrated with great fervour in school on the morning of August 15th 2018. The rains decided to play spoilsport so the hoisting of the National Flag was done in the school auditorium. The Head Boy, Aakash Jajoo and Head Girl, Nidhi Sajit Menon gave inspiring speeches on the sacrifice made by our great leaders and they also appealed to all present to bring about more changes to help India progress further.
This was followed by a variety entertainment programme – a very colourful variety of song and dance. It began with a beautiful presentation of the famous song “India naadu enn veedu”, by the students of Class 5 . Up next were Tamil speeches on National Integration by the students of Class 4 and the ‘Role played by Women’s squad in the protection of our country’ by the students of Class 5. Krishna Ravishankar of Class 10 then delivered a brief speech about the ancient scientific heritage of India and he also sang a song about Bharat. ‘Ae Watan’ was the song rendered by the students of Class 10 who took the stage next. A fitting finale to the days programme was a dance performance by the students of Class 9 who inspired and aroused patriotic feelings in the minds of all those present as they danced to the tune of “Maa tuje salaam” and “Rang de basanti”.
