The Inter House Debate competition was held on 28th of September 2012. This year’s topics were ‘Central Government is facing policy paralysis’ and Media veers towards sensationalism instead of reporting accurate news’. The participants from senior school were required to speak either for or against the topic for five minutes, followed by a question session by the judges.
Sutlej and Narmada tackled the first topic. Sutlej was represented by Aditya Karekatte and Aakanksha Jaiswal while Narmada was represented by Amritha Ram and Mahika Sri Krishna. Both houses spoke well on this very relevant topic and also answered questions with minimum hesitation.
Godavari and Cauvery spoke on the second topic. Godavari was represented by Keshav Padmanabhan and Chinmaya Bhargava while Anjani Balu and Pallavi Balakrishnan represented Cauvery.
The results were announced and to nobody’s surprise, Narmada placed first, followed by Godavari, Cauvery and Sutlej. For her excellent debating skills and good answers, Mahika Sri Krishna of Narmada was awarded Best Speaker.

This year’s topics were ‘Natural Calamities are caused by humans’ and ‘West must retaliate with force against recent killing of journalists’. Participants spoke either for or against the topic for five minutes.
This year’s topics were ‘Food Security Bill is a Political Stunt’ and ‘Genetic Engineering is a blessing in disguise’. The participants were required to speak either for or against the topic for five minutes.
