Senior School Day 2018

The Annual Senior School Day programme was held on the 30th of August 2018. The Chief Guest this year was Mr. Ashok Kumar, Director General of Police (Retd.) & CAO of Surana & Surana International Attorneys. The Class 10 ICSE students began the programme with an invocation. This was followed by the emotional ‘Adieu’, three farewell songs rendered by the ISC Class of 2019 as part of their last School Day programme.

Dr. Salim Thomas gave the Welcome Address and introduced the Chief Guest. Mrs. Omana Thomas presented the Principal’s Report, highlighting the achievements of the school and the students in the past year.

The toppers of the ICSE and ISC 2018 Board Exams were awarded prizes for their outstanding results after which the Chief Guest addressed the gathering.

The Senior School play this year was ‘Namma Chennai’ and it was based on our very own Chennai city. The introduction to the play traced the history of Chennai from its inception.

The play revolved around a young British boy who gets separated from his parents while they were on a visit to the city. During his quest for his parents, he comes across various geographical and cultural landmarks of Chennai. The audience is shown the Marina Beach with its fishermen and their dances through the eyes of the boy. He also takes the audience through a journey highlighting the various cultural aspects of the city – the Carnatic music scene, a Bharatanatyam performance as well as a glimpse into a Kollywood studio showcasing some of the greatest Kollywood stars. The play ended on a high note with a celebration of the comeback of Chennai Super Kings and the reunion of the boy with his parents.

A surprise element was awaiting the audience after the play. Our very own alumna, Tanvi Shah, rocked the auditorium with her rendition of ‘Jai Ho’, which brought the curtains down on another memorable school day programme.
