The KIT Thomas Oration is an annual event held in April to commemorate the memory of the founder Mr. K.I.Thomas. An eminent speaker is invited to address the senior students, the faculty, parents and the public on different issues, mainly pertaining to education.

This year, the oration was held on the 29th of July. The orator for 2008, Dr. M.S. Swaminathan needs no introduction. He is an internationally reputed person in the field of agriculture.

An eloquent speaker, Dr. Swaminathan kept the audience spellbound with his very informative and interesting presentation on “Global Food Crisis, Changing Climate and National Food Security”. Dr. Swaminathan brought home the dire consequences of man’s thoughtless actions through his speech and a power point presentation to a very appreciative audience. His speech was particularly directed to the younger generation whose “lives would be affected more profoundly by climate change”.
