the memory of the founder Mr. K.I.Thomas. An eminent
speaker is invited to address the senior students, the
faculty, parents and the public on different issues,
mainly pertaining to education.
This year, the oration was held on the 7th of April.
The orator for 2009, Rear Admiral K.R. Menon, a distinguished
fellow at the Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies
spoke on “Taliban, Terror and Teaching”.
Admiral Menon said the misuse
of the educational system in Pakistan to spread fundamentalism
was a major reason for the growth of extremism. Describing
the evolution of the Taliban, which took roots in Pakistan
as an off-shoot of the creation of innumerable madrassas
across the country by former Pakistan ruler General
