The annual Inter
House Athletics Meet was held on 20th February 2010.
However, the athletic fever began to pervade the campus
well before the actual day, with athletes practicing
hard every day since the day school reopened. The majority
of the track and field events were held on the 11th,
12th and 13th. Shreemath G. Mandrayar broke the 200
m. record in the Boys ‘A’ Division and George
Oommen bettered the High Jump record in the ‘C’
division for Boys. Mohammed Muzammil Khan equalled the
record for the boys ‘A’ division High Jump.
The actual meet on the 20th , began with the march past
of the athletes led by the Head Boy and Head Girl, the
Games Captains, the House Captains and their respective
houses, and the School Band. The senior contingents
were followed by their junior counterparts, led in turn
by their Games Captains and House Captains. The school
ground was decked in yellow, blue, red and green - not
only because of the house colours, but also due to the
eye-catching decorations on the house tents. Once the
four houses congregated at the centre of the field,
the school flag was hoisted, the games torch was lit,
and the Chief Guest Mr. Buchi Prakash Rao declared the
meet open. Following this, the House Captains took an
oath of sportsmanship in a solemn ceremony. The drill
this year "The Parade Drill”, added more
colour to the meet.

Following this
was the 100m dash for all divisions, and the 200m race
for the B division. The athletes gave off their best
for the last few races, showing utmost skill and grit,
as could be seen by the many nail-biting finishes. These
were succeeded by the 10 X 50m Shuttle Relay for Classes
3 & 4 and the widely anticipated Mixed Relay, both
of which drew fierce partisanship from all the houses.
However soon after, school spirit triumphed with the
four rival teams uniting to cheer for Sishya in the
inter-school relays, in which Sishya emerged winners
in the boys event and runners – up for the girls.

At the end of
all the events, Narmada emerged as the winners after
7 years followed by Sutlej, Godavari and Cauvery. The
Marching shield for Seniors was won by Sutlej for the
boys and by Godavari for the girls. The Junior Marching
Shield was won by Narmada. This year, a shield for the
most disciplined house was introduced and Sutlej and
Cauvery were declared joint-winners. As the meet came
to an end amidst the strains of "Abide With Me",
participants were left with a sense of pride at their
efforts over the past two weeks, and all those present
already began to look forward to the next year's edition.
As always, the Inter House Athletics Meet did not fail
to entertain.
